Tonsillectomy Time!!

I've had sinus issues since I was about 11, and have been through many medications to treat it. The past couple years. specifically, I have had issues with my actual tonils. This summer (after having a sinus infection) I decided it was time. Ironically enough I couldn't get them out in July when I wanted, so I decided to wait. Then I got my first case of tonsillitis since I was a child at the end of August and ended up being throat sick for over 30 days! Back-to-back!

That being said, I was glad to get these crazy meatballs removed, and I can't wait to be fully recovered and see how it feels to not constantly feel like my throat is closing in!

Pre-admittance on Monday was about 3 hours and consisted mostly of just sitting and waiting. THey told me today I would be on the fast track so I should arrive at 6:30 for my 8:45 surger. Well. We came in and waited an hour and a half before even starting the process! My dad went with me and sat at my side as we waited to meet with everyone then get rolled back. I ended up taking 2 naps and didn't go into surgery until 9:50am. It was SO fast! They rolled me back, but me on a different table, then I was waking up in recovery!

Post-surgery, I am still feeling rather well! I thought it would be WAY worse, and it still might be, but for now I am just sore. It hurts to talk and swallow..but it's definitely manageable.

I've also been very well taken care of! Like I said earlier, my dad stayed by my side, then my mom has been catering to my liquid/popsicle needs, and Em has been my 'communicator'. Also, my roomie got me the card, popsicles, and pudding...and she ROCKS! Em's girlfriend got me a balloon and flowers...SO sweet! And I even get to take pink medicine!!! woo!

So far..so good!
I better get back to laying down before I pass out as I am typing again. The meds aren't as scary as I thought they would be too!

I work at the #1 Middle School in TN...SCORE!

So Monday night I (along with quite a chunk of our staff) attended the SCORE Prize ceremony downtown Nashville at the Schermerhorn. It was a HUGE honor to have our school nominated as 1 of the 3 top middle schools in TN, but when it came time to announce the winners they read off our name!! It was unreal! We all jumped out of our seats screaming in excitement!!

After the remainder winners were announced, we got a mini acoustic concert from Dustin Lynch. It was actually really good! I had never really heard his music before

As the night progressed, #GlitterGlasses made the rounds as everyone joined together to celebrate. It was so nice having a good chunk of the staff together outside of school and everyone seemed to really enjoy being together. I'm sure it helped that we all had something BIG to celebrate!

All in all, it was a great day!! Roomie and I even got a pic with the prize! :-)

#WarriorNation

Today was a great day! My other half (Robin) and I did the Warrior Dash! The weather has been steadily hot for who knows how long..it was just 90 this past Tuesday..but on Warrior Dash day, the temps dropped and the high was only 63! The day was actually really beautiful and the views we saw throughout the dash were gorgeous. The weather was only a problem when we were plunged into water or trudged through the mud, haha.

This year I raced WITH #GlitterGlasses on. They got a few dabbles of mud on them, but they survived just as much as I did! :-) Can't wait to see the rest of the pics the photographers took!

Oh..and PS. Age is but a number. This girl KICKED MY BUTT in this race. Who cares if the big 5-0 just happened a few weeks ago! One thing is for certain, she always keeps me moving and stays positive while she does it. I will forever be grateful for the fact God brought her into my life for more reasons than I will ever be able to keep up with.

Love you Robin!

#ThrowbackThursday

These pictures popped up in my Timehop app today and since I've been missing my sister, I thought it would make for a  good post!

This time last year was the week after my first music festival, Music Midtown. I had no idea what I was getting into and I loved every minute of it! The second day it rained almost all day, we trudged through mud, wiped our ranch fingers on trees from lunch, and it was AWESOME! I had such a great time and made memories that will last a lifetime!

Seeing Weezer in the pouring rain was a stand out memory....but the below is one for the record books..obviously! haha...

Looking for the bright stars

So Saturday (9/20/14) heaven got another little puppy angel. Snowflake was only with us for a short time; a mere 5 1/2 years. I feel extremely blessed to have had her with me for that amount of time, though it was much shorter than I ever would have imagined.

She was with me as I laughed, cried, thought my life was over, and when I realized it had just begun.

Before she got sick, I spent more time with her than any other human. She always slept by my side (or under my pillow) and I never had to be alone if she was in the house, including sitting right under my feet as I cooked in the kitchen. I am a firm believer in everything happening for a reason, and I have no doubt that the season of my life she was a part of is when I probably needed her the most.

She may have been a very spoiled little princess (hey, she was the first granddog after all!), she was never short on love. Her grandpappi's were probably her favorite. When I would drive to their house all I had to do was pull in the driveway and she knew exactly where we were; she'd start barking like crazy until I got her into the house. She also loved her auntie and sister Cocobutt; the 4 of us often spent fun times either playing wrestle mania or water park adventures. I could go on and on about all the people that played a role in her life..but I will just stick with pictures...they speak louder anyway (If I left you out, I'm sorry..there were WAY MORE than I realized I had!)

I'm not sure she ever met a person she didn't love and her ability to warm up to people so quickly is what will stick with me. We can all learn a little from that!

Though my heart is breaking at the thought of not hearing her little bark when I come into the house, I am happy that she is finally out of her misery. She got sick last November and the poor thing had been in and out of the vet at least every month, if not every few weeks, since then. She took it like a champ though, even if she was quite the little princess.

Last Fling Before the Ring

Last night we went out to celebrate little Cayce's upcoming wedding. We bounced all over downtown Nashville and had a blast spending time with each other. Hard to believe this girl is getting married!

Every End is a New Beginning

I officially signed off the papers today to close on the house that I have lived in almost 3 years.

Here's to new adventures and beginnings!

Live on the Green

So I've only lived in Nashville my entire life, and never knew there were free concerts downtown in the summer! ...That or I just never bothered. Looking into it. This year I took gander and really wanted to go, but had no one to go with. I was complaining to my other half in the library last Friday about my dilemma when she said that her son and friends were going and he would take me. The rest is history!
Last night I went downtown and got to see Johnny Swim and Cage the Elephant at Live on the Green with these 2 strapping (very) young gentlemen! It was a fun time, though I am kinda bummed that I only discovered this awesome gem the closing weekend! Next summer I gotta get on the boat sooner!

Be Nice...or not?

Today is actually "Be Nice" day in Williamson County, so I woke up and put on my "Be Nice" shirt, got ready as normal, and went to my car to leave.....only to find out that my car had been broken into. This has never happened to me before and I didn't know what to do. It appeared that they only emptied the center console and glove compartment onto the seats, but upon further inspection I've discovered my GPS is missing (which was old anyway). Only thing that freaks me out about that is all the addresses that were saved in it. So here I am, going to be late to school, as I wait for the police to come file a report.

At least they left the #GlitterGlasses. If only I could see what they saw last night...

You Only Live Once, that's the motto **** YOLO

So last night my BFF and I went to the Drake vs. Lil' Wayne concert in South downtown Atlanta. What a show!! We have loved Drake since he was Jimmy on Degrassi and were actually supposed to see him in concert last November before my doggy got sick, so somehow at the last minute this mini trip worked out! The show was quite entertaining between the dialogue between the 2 rappers and singing along to songs we have only heard at a distance. Either way, we both agreed that it was so worth it and Britt was even able to knock this one off her bucket list!

Thanks Bert-a-bee for taking me out!

Chattanoogaaaaa, Come See for Yourself!

Today was a fun day! I probably haven't actually been to Chattanooga since I was 13, let alone get the chance to explore. I got a very small taste of some hiking adventures and now I am ready to go back, but the weather wasn't being very cooperative once we finally figured out what we wanted to do. Oh well...Next time!

Midwestern Night in Nashville

Last night CJ was in town and brought all his friends from home. We all went downtown to Broadway to show them around our city. #GlitterGlasses  made it onstage again, this time with our favorite fiddle player that we are always searching for when we go out!

All in all, it was one heck of a night!

ALS Challenge

So apparently this ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has been going on for a while. Fortunately, I have been "fasting" facebook/Instagram, so I have missed the hype...BUT my lovely little twins I babysit decided to challenge me anyway. Of course, #glitterglasses had to do it with me! :-)

I took the challenge! Who's next?

Life is short

As I'm driving to my best friend's father's funeral, I can't help but be faced with the fact that life is too short. Death always catches us off guard, even when you think you are expecting it. We all try to justify why it happens and how the person is always "better off" but when it hits you, really hits you, it still doesn't take the pain away.

The only positive side effect of death is that it reminds us (in the most painful way possible) that we are, in fact, still living. Living with the memory of the ones that have gone before us, but still, nonetheless, living. All we can do is love the ones that are still here and cherish each moment we have.

Weekend Out

This past weekend I got to be a part of my cousin's Bachelorette day up in Pennsylvania. #GlitterGlasses went out painting, enjoyed in yummy snacks and got to go out and listen to some great music at a local bar. Everyone had a blast and I feel so blessed to have been able to come up and spend this extra special time with my cousin. I can't believe she is going to be married in only a few short days!

What the heck are #glitterglasses?

About a year ago my sister turned some cheap sunglasses into glitter glasses. I begged her to make me a pair, which, being the loving sister she is, she did. I loved them so much I started wearing them when I went to new places and thus #glitterglasses was born. These silly glasses have gone through several events and firsts in my life, so I decided I would start blogging about their journey.

Let the journey (officially) begin!
